The body project

Today's paraphrased wisdom from Jillian Michaels is:

When it really hurts, that's when the most change is happening.

I love that so many of Jillian's commandments can be applied to other areas of my life.

Today marks Day 1 of my embarkation upon Jillian's 30 Day Shred, which I have decided to complete in 60 days so as not to die. Following this morning's Level 1 workout, I wanted to barf and then lie down. So I am pretty sure a lot of change is about to happen.

Also, I am terrified about Levels 2 and 3.

And I'm hoping sharing my adventures in exercise with the Internet will keep me accountable and shame me into completing the whole thing.

My neighbor did the 30 Day Shred in 30 days and he lost 20 pounds and now I see him running around the neighborhood occasionally. I am consumed with jealousy.

So that's it for today. I'll be updating about this occasionally to keep myself accountable and also continue to embarrass myself, which is totally my favorite.

Toodles!

  3. I love Jillian - tough love is what I need. But, I have always said, "if it hurts, it's working" in relation to exercising. : )I recently got the Abs Diet cookbook, which has lots of yummy and super easy recipies (good for those of us who don't like to cook). This is the third (or fourth, or fifth...) year I have resolved to lose 10 pounds. This year, it might actually happen.

  4. I strongly agree with doing it in 60 days. I started it once a few months ago (read: MONTHS ago). It went alright. I made it to level 2. That SUUUUUUUCKED. Mostly cause there was this arm exercise that killed my shoulders. Probably good, but, i'm a pussy. I'm horrified to even think about level three. Does it count if you do level one the whole month?!

Gonna have to start up again too. Maybe tomorrow... maybe tomorrow...

  5. V - Southbeach totally works, it's just sticking to it. Hard! Sugarbusters worked once for me, many moons ago.

Holly - Haven't heard of Tracy Anderson! Maybe if I finish Jillian's I'll look her up...

Mel - Is that all low carb stuff? I've been reading low carb diets are good for tummy fat. Which I have in large quantities.

McGP: Ugh, totally. Today was day 2 and I wanted to barf again. I'm going to try Level 2 on Day 11, God help me. I can't even make it through Level 1 without pausing during the butt kicks!

  6. Erin, it's not based on low-carbs, but the goal of the "diet" is to decrease belly fat, which I also have too much of.
